Boarding Passes for the Cellular Phone
It really amazes me that in order to board a plane, I have to have a paper ticket. Come on, this is the digital age, and we need to be saving trees. Can't I just get some confirmation on my cellular phone or something?
Well, this is exactly what Continental Airlines is experimenting with. There are scanning devices at Houston's Intercontinental Airport which pick up a digital boarding pass that can be stored on a cellular phone. As of now, this is only a three month trial program, but I can so see this catching on.
The only problem is: what if your battery runs out? That might be kind of awkward. Better carry a paper copy just in case. Oh wait, weren't we trying to prevent that?
