OCZ Launches First Netbook With Neutrino


Memory maker OCZ has released their first netbook called the Neutrino. The 10.1-inch machine will come loaded with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, a 945GSE chipset, up to 2GB of RAM, an optional 250GB OCZ SSD, 1,024 x 600 resolution LCD, VGA output, Ethernet, twin USB 2.0 ports, a 4-cell (2,200mAh) battery, WiFi and a 1.3 megapixel webcam. The system will run on either Windows XP or Ubuntu Linux OS. The netbook itself will be available under OCZ’s DIY program which enables users to replace or upgrade memory and hard drive without loosing the warranty. No word on pricing and availability yet. Upcoming Samsung NP-Q1EX UMPC


Korean electronics company Samsung will release the Samsung NP-Q1EX that comes jam packed with a 7 inch WSVGA touchscreen display at 1,024 × 600 resolution, a camera, VIA Isaiah processor, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. What makes this UMPC special is that it also supports SiRF Star embedded GPS receiver. No word on pricing so far. [Navigadget via Laptop Notebook News]

Higher-End MacBook Pro Receives CPU Upgrades


The higher-end 15-inch MacBook Pro model now comes standard with an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz processor, which is an upgrade from 2.53GHz, Apple Insider reports. The 2.66GHz MacBook Pro MC026LL/A, priced at $2,499, can be additionally upgraded to 2.93GHz for $300. The 2.93GHz option replaces the previous 2.8GHz upgrade. The standard lower-end 2.4GHz MacBook Pro MB470LL/A remained unchanged. It’s priced at $1,999.


In addition, the 15 MacBook Pro and 13-inch aluminum unibody MacBook can now be configured with a 256GB solid state drive. Previously, the 256GB SSD had been optionally available only in 17-inch MacBook Pro. [Apple Insider]

Gigabyte Booktop M1022 Netbook


Gigabyte Technology’s Booktop M1022 will be available in either Intel Atom N270/945GSE or the new Intel Atom N280/GN40 models. The netbook will be released on April 13th, 2009. It will be priced at approx. $481 to $510, depending on the specs. [Digitimes]

Gigabyte Thin Note M1024 at CEBIT 2009


The Thin Note M1024 is a new super slim netbook from Gigabyte. Weighing at just 1.96 pounds, the netbook is powered by an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor with a 10.1 inch 1,024 x 600 resolution display, 1GB RAM, a 60GB/80GB hard drive, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity with an optional embedded 3.5G modem. Japan-based computer manufacturer Onkyo today released its latest all-in-one multimedia desktop PC, the Sotec E702A9. It is perfect for those who want to have a powerful desktop PC but only has a small area of empty space on their room. The Onkyo E702A9 all-in-one PC is powered by a 2.8Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 processor with a 2GB of main memory, a 500GB of hard drive, and an nVidia GeForce 9300 graphics engine. This all-in-one computer is also equipped with a 21.5-inch Full HD LCD monitor that offers 16:9 aspect ratio and 1920 x 1080 resolution. Toshiba REGZA C8000 Series HDTV


Toshiba of Japan has recently introduced the Regza C8000-series LCD HDTV, that will be available in 37-inch (37C8000) and 42-inch (42C8000) models. These HDTVs feature 120Hz technology, 30000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and eco-friendly features for up to 51 percent power savings compared with its predecessor, the CV500s-series. The Regza 37C8000 and 42C8000 will be available in Japan in April and priced at ¥180,000 and ¥210,000, respectively. [TodayGadgets]

Canon’s Major Refund Campaign in Japan


Canon Japan today announced that the company will refund up to 20,000 Yen or around €160 on any purchase of a Canon 50D or Kiss X2 until June 30th, 2009. You will be entitled to a 20,000 Yen refund for a Canon 50D with EF-D18-200-IS lenses and 10,000 Yen for Canon Kiss X2 with a kit lens or not. [Akihabara]
