Thin Portable Media Player From Nextar


The Nextar MA809 is a thin portable media player that measures at only 0.25 inch thin, which is almost half the iPhone 3G. The Nextar MA809 supports MP3/WMA audio files, JPEG/BMP/GIF picture files, and AVI video files. There is also an FM radio. The 2GB model retails for around $100, meanwhile the 8GB version for $149. Toshiba Camileo S10 HD Camcorder


Toshiba is set to launch a new affordable HD camcorder which promises to be the size of a mobile phone. Dubbed as the Camileo S10, the device is capable to deliver 1080p resolution for recording high-def video. Other features include a 2.5-inch screen, 4x digital zoom, 128MB of internal memory, an SD card slot and a 5-megapixel sensor for snapping still images. Wacom Nextbeat Music Controller


Wacom comes back with a music controller known as Nextbeat, that is perfect for both professional and casual digital DJs who want to introduce a new method of playing their music and keeping the party crowd entertained. The device features a special docking wireless control pod allowing you to roam and control sounds which have been loaded onto the Nextbeat base station. Each purchase comes with a pair of digital audio players, a mixer, sampler and effect units. The Nextbeat DJ system will be available in Europe and Japan later this summer. New Pocket Video Recorder By Amadana


Japanese manufacturer Amadana has recently rolled out the SAL pocket video recorder that records video in MPEG4 format and capture 3MP picture with its CMOS image sensor. Measuring 54mm x 95mm x 12mm and weights at only 85 grams, the portable gadget also offers 2GB of internal memory. You can also transfer video and picture files to you PC or laptop via USB port. Shoot Down Mosquitoes With Lasers


American scientists have managed to develop a mosquito laser beam that can kill flying mosquitos with pinpoint accuracy. The scientists’ actual target was malaria, which is caused by a parasite transmitted when certain mosquitoes bite people. FYI, malaria remains a major global public-health threat, killing about 1 million people per year. However, they need to make sure the beam strong enough to zap mosquitoes while it would be weak enough not to harm humans. [Wall Street Journal]

Upcoming Sony Ericsson W518a Phone


According to rumors, Sony Ericsson will release the Sony Ericsson W518a phone. The handset features A-GPS and comes in a clamshell form factor. The Sony Ericsson W518a is targeted for America, although there’s no info on when it will be launched. The phone looks similar to the W508 in many aspects. Stay tuned for more updates. Stanton’s T.92 And T.55 Turntables


Stanton has recently released two turntables in the form of the T.92 and T.55 USB. Both of them come with USB and S/PDIF outputs alongside Cakewalk Pyro Audio Creator and Audacity software. Both models also feature an S-Shaped tone arm for lower distortion and reduced record wear, while an integrated DSP with key lock helps the user control tempo without affecting pitch. The T.55 is a belt-drive turntable that comes with a straight tone arm, meanwhile the T.92 offers a high-torque direct drive motor. If you are interested, you can buy the T.92 and T.55 for $299 and $199, respectively. [Engadget]
